Virginia Beach College Inducts Members into Honor Societies

Virginia Beach College inducts 31 new members into its chapter of the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) and 4 new members into its Alpha Beta Kappa (ABK) Honor Society.  

The ceremony for this Virginia Beach College (Centura College) was held at the Virginia Beach Central Library on Friday, July 19, 2013, at 2 p.m.  Ms. Lois Epps-Medley, an alumni, served as the Mistress of Ceremonies.

Alpha Beta Kappa (ABK)

First, Epps-Medley led the ceremony for the Alpha Beta Kappa (ABK) Honor Society which serves as the premiere national honor society for private career colleges and universities in America for over 30 years.  Epps-Medley explained the meaning of the Official emblem of the Society, including the Greek letters A.B.K., the Star, the Laurel Branches, and the Official Flower and Colors.   The A is the first letter of the Greek alphabet and associated with the goddess of wisdom, “Athena”.  The B is the second letter of the Greek alphabet and signifies the Spartan General, “Brasidas.” The tenth letter of the Greek alphabet, the K represents “Kudos” which denotes glory, credit, and praise.  Mr. Marcus Wesson, Business Program Coordinator, presented the Alpha Beta Kappa certificates to the following students, as well as recognized their scholastic achievements:  Ronald Galloway, Vicky Cherry, Barbara Felton and Jeanette Sumner. …Read More Here
