Centura College’s Medical Coding and Billing school prepares student for employment in the area of bill processing and medical coding needed by insurance offices to process claims submitted by doctors and other health professionals. This program will also prepare students for the coding certification exam.

Student will learn the required medical coding terminology used to translate diagnoses and procedures to their respective classification for submission to insurance companies. In addition, students will learn medical terminology used by doctors and other health practitioners used in billing and insurance. They will also learn how to use industry standard medical billing software to submit these claims. As student progress, they will learn more advance coding.
In addition to medical coding and billing training, students will train daily in the use of electronic keyboarding necessary to improve speed and accuracy. They will also become familiar with hospital billing and insurance forms, practices and procedures.
